The PMC 125 rim flattener, designed to run in line with PMC cup-forming machines, automatically flattens and ultrasonically seals the top rims on paper cups at full production speeds. A variable-speed drive allows the PMC 125 to produce up to 250 flat-rimmed cups per minute - 100 cups more per minute than the nearest competitive rim flattener. It also flattens rims on round containers as large as one-half gallon for dehydrated soups and other foods and non-round containers of various sizes.
The flattening process folds the curled top rim back on itself, then seals the flattened layers of paper together. This allows paper to be used in place of plastic in yogurt cups to satisfy environmental concerns. Since flat paper blanks can be offset, gravure or flexo printed prior to forming, the finished yogurt cups can have more appealing graphics as well.
