PMC 1250F Foam Cup Machine

The PMC 1250F foam cup forming machine was designed in conjunction with a major petrochemical company who looked to PMC for help in capturing its share of the 100-billion-unit annual drinking cup market.

Working closely with the company's engineering, marketing and sales groups, PMC developed a viable foam cup design by refining paper cup forming technology to fit foam's unique characteristics. The PMC 1250F produces single-wrap, two-piece foam cups for either hot or cold liquids as well as containers for food service and other applications.

The substantial thickness of foam called for a redesign top curl shape. Foam's inability to retain heat required that flameless hot air be applied to the cup's top rim just prior to curl formation and sealing. This also softened the foam to prevent cracking. Deepening the cup's bottom recess allowed the thicker cups to de-nest and separate more freely. Custom developments also included a special mechanism to pinch and seal the cup's bottom, and a post-treating machine that heated the finished cups to expand and stiffen the foam.

Carefully engineered and ruggedly constructed, the PMC 1250F is built for continuous operation. Extra-strength mechanical components, heavy-duty solid-state controls and straight-forward operational simplicity make for quick adjustment and easy maintenance.
