The PMC-1500 has been the machine of choice for over twenty years for forming nestable paperboard tubs. Additional design options are commercially available today; a PMC-1500NR version to form non-round containers and a customized adaptation for forming inline with product filling.
The PMC-1500 model
is PMC's standard large frame machine with a general footprint
of 7.5' x 12'. Its intermittent motion design includes three
synchronized turrets: a transfer turret for feeding and conditioning
the paperboard, a mandrel turret for forming the paperboard
tube and finishing the bottom, and a rimming turret for curling
the top edge of the container.
A PLC-controlled
variable speed drive allows operators to adjust output in
response to downstream demand for inline systems. Dependable,
repeatable production is assured by the synchronized operation
of cam-actuated machine and station functions. Production
speeds range up to 110 cpm depending upon package design and
materials selected.
The operator's
job is simplified by a touch-screen operator interface, which
aids in trouble-shooting and provides valuable operational
and output information. Automatic single point lubrication
also adds operation ease.
Two heat sealing
options are available to accommodate the extraordinary demands
of forming containers with large surface areas. PMC offers
both a patented gas fired hot air sealing system, as well
as our traditional electric generated hot air system.
For mainstay items
like popcorn containers, chicken buckets, and ice cream packaging,
the 1500 Series continues PMC's long-standing tradition of
top performance and continuous improvement.

| Production
Rate
60-110
containers per minute. Speed is largely due to container
configuration and blank size.
Conversion
Material
SBS
cup stock with polyethylene two sides is standard.
Cup stock with polyethylene one side is an option
when a sealing facilitator such as ADCOTE is applied
on the clay coated surface.
Sidewall
& Bottom Stock
Caliper range .014" - 026". Containers most often
formed from preprinted die-cut sidewall blanks and
either web-fed bottom stock or pre die-cut blanks.

32
oz to 100 oz.
