Subject: Universal Seam Clamp Holder

Recommendations: 

A new seam clamp holder assembly has been developed for the G-1000 model machine delivered thru 1976, as shown on the enclosed partial assembly drawing 26445-E. This design can be used with all existing tooling seam clamps from the shortest to the longest cup.

After initial installation it will no longer be necessary to change Holder Assemblies for squat or tall cups as previously used. This will reduce tooling change over time and also offers other benefits. The design uses threaded seam clamp rods (26393-B) into the cast Clamp Arms (26370-C). This eliminates the cross pinning of rods, which has on occasion failed in service causing serious problems. The pressure applied by the lower clamp springs is now absorbed by the rods rather than the roll pin. Another feature is the elimination of the various design Pivot Pins and retaining hardware (cotter pins, flex lock nuts, etc.) used on existing assemblies.

This new assembly offers advantages to all installations and is of particular value to those customers having extreme tool sets with height changes, or multiple sets of tools on a single machine.
