EP 100 Edge Protection Machine

November 16th, 2021

Paper Machinery Corporation enters into a new market opportunity with the introduction of the EP 100 Edge Protection machine.

The servo-driven EP 100 is an exciting new product category for PMC.  By supplying a machine that can apply barrier tape to a paperboard container, PMC will provide a packaging machine solution that can produce a more sustainable product.  Edge protected paperboard containers have increased resistance to oxygen, moisture transmission and oil absorption.  Additional benefits include scent protection and a packaging container with an extended shelf life by covering the exposed edge of the sidewall with tape.

Paper Machinery Corporation CEO & President John Fortin stated, “We are excited about this new product development at PMC.  As our customers continue to search for environmentally friendly packaging solutions, the EP 100 provides an opportunity to enter into markets where plastic was originally viewed as the only option.”

The EP 100 machine is a standalone offline machine producing up to 200 edge protected sidewall blanks per minute.  The machine can also be configured as an inline unit along with a PMC 2001S cup / container-forming machine, if production operations require it.

To find out more about edge protection and the EP 100, contact the PMC Sales Department.

Pack Expo Las Vegas 2021

October 7th, 2021

PMC displayed its brand new booth design this past September 27th-29Th at Pack Expo Las Vegas!  John Fortin, Mike Hansen, Adam Wescott and Bud Custer represented Paper Machinery Corporation at the event that was held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  This was an opportunity to display the latest PMC products and innovations, connect with customers, and introduce PMC to a new audience.  Vice President of Packaging Mike Hansen said, “It was great to get back to meeting with the rest of the industry in person.  As expected, PMMI did an excellent job of creating an environment that encourages networking and for business to occur.”  Pack Expo, PMMI’s most comprehensive packaging and processing event, was a great success, with over 23,000 attendees, and over 1,500 exhibitors, it served as the largest packaging trade show in the U.S. in 2021.

There was a noticeable energy across the attendees and exhibitors at this year’s show.  People were ready to do business and were excited to discuss new projects with PMC.  It was also evident that there was a common theme and that was an increased focus on automation.  As companies continue to manage the current state of the labor force, there are a few solutions.

  1. Increased packaging equipment efficiency rates
  2. Higher speed equipment
  3. Implementation of robotics and automation

While we did also hear the impact that the global supply chain is having on customers evaluating new projects, it is promising to hear the number of sustainable paper-based projects that are on the horizon.  As the world continues to shake off the lasting impact of the pandemic, PMC believes its solutions are in a position to support a changing world.

COVID 19 Update – December 28, 2020

January 4th, 2021

Dear Valued Customer,

It goes without saying, 2020 has been a most challenging year. We are experiencing further stay at home orders and the cancellation of both interpack and drupa tradeshows. To address this, PMC has started to research virtual demonstration opportunities to allow us to continue to stay in touch with our customers. We look forward to implementing innovative techniques that will allow us to showcase how our machinery can further enhance your production capabilities.

The current state of our business activity is no longer declining, nor increasing, rather stable. We have noticed an increase in customers upgrading their machine models, as well as an evaluation of unique product offerings. There has also been an increase of tooling orders as we wrap up the year and it is encouraging to see our customers’ production continue to increase, particularly in food service.

COVID 19 has forced us as a company to evaluate how we are interacting with our customers both in the Sales and Customer Service Department. We have incorporated an increased portfolio of remote options and are excited to enhance these options in 2021.

As distribution of COVID 19 vaccinations are implemented worldwide, we look forward to a new “normal”. Thank you for your support. We wish you a healthy and bright New Year!

COVID 19 Update – August 17, 2020

August 17th, 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

As we navigate through this COVID-19 business environment, we wanted to share a few things with you. PMC continues to find new ways to address productivity and create inventive product solutions. We are also hearing directly how our customers are using this time to evaluate new opportunities and markets. Some of these opportunities include:

  • Participating in development of personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, etc.)
  • Evaluating unique packaging concepts including straight wall and non-round options
  • Increased focus on improving food quality, reducing waste and sustainable practices

Paper Machinery Corporations efforts include the following:

Operations
We are in full operation with a combined approach that includes remote working, and three shifts of staffing at our headquarters. The City of Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin implemented a mandate requiring everyone wear a facemask in an enclosed area outside of their personal home or living space. To comply with this mandate, all employees and visitors at PMC must wear a mask in common areas. We continue to practice physical “social” distancing, offer convenient hand sanitizer stations, and have increased cleaning of all high contact areas.

Customer Support
Our Service Department is hearing from numerous customers that have chosen this time to focus on machine repairs, tooling updates and maintenance. We are directing resources to accommodate these requests and after the first month with the new remote service policy changes, the feedback has been positive. Customers have increased efficiency in their requests, i.e. have machine information readily available, which is leading to a quicker turnaround in finding solutions.

PMC Service Technicians have started traveling to customer locations in the United States. Strict guidelines have been put in place and we have worked closely with customers to ensure we are following customer and government COVID guidelines.

As always, we will work hard to warrant your trust and loyalty. We are here to help you prepare for continued success, both now and in the post-coronavirus business climate. If there is a way that we can be of further service to your organization, please contact us at sales@papermc.com.

Thank you,

COVID 19 Update – June 10, 2020

June 12th, 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

It has been an interesting 2020 to say the least. As we enter the halfway point of the year, we hope that this third installment of the Paper Machinery Corporation COVID-19 update finds you well. Daily operations continue progressing at PMC. We have implemented a mandatory temperature screening for all employees and visitors when they arrive on-site. We are also asking individuals to stay home if they have come in contact with someone that either has tested positive or is showing any initial symptoms. Throughout the state of Wisconsin, the “Safer at Home” order has been lifted. A majority of the local businesses are operational and are running with physical distancing guidelines in place.

Customer Support

As travel restrictions begin to ease, we are discussing potential Sales and Service Department visits with domestic customers. Processes are being put into place to allow visitors to PMC while ensuring that everyone’s safety is a top priority. Currently, there are still travel bans for international travel, which we will continue to monitor.

Operations and Engineering

In addition to temperature screening, we continue to practice social distancing and clean all high contact surfaces. For the last six weeks, many of the Operations office staff have been working remotely. By July 1, the intent is that the staff will increase their time in the office.

The Engineering Department has used this time to better prepare for new tool sets by increasing our 3D model database. We were also able to evaluate and improve our current business processes while establishing that Engineering can work remotely and still be productive. This will be helpful in the event that we may have a temporary COVID-19 closure or if employees are unable to come into the office for other reasons.

It is encouraging to see the progress that is being made and the creative solutions that businesses are implementing to facilitate customer safety. As PMC begins to consider traveling again, as well as hosting you at our headquarters in Milwaukee, WI, you can be sure that we will take all necessary precautions. If you have any suggestions regarding safer operating practices, please send us an email at sales@papermc.com.

Thank you once again for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
